There seems quite a lot of evidence that the Grateful Dead played this in their very early days as The Warlocks.
In his book "A Long Strange Trip: The Inside Story Of The Grateful Dead", Dennis McNally says:
"By the second gig, on May 12, the joint was packed, and the response was fabulous. Hunter , for one, thought the show was 'wonderful'. They were a basic cover band, playing Chuck Berry, 'Stealing', Dylan's 'Baby Blue', 'King Bee', 'Walking The Dog', 'Wooly Bully', and other hits"."Sandy Troy in his book "Captain Trips: The Life And Times Of Jerry Garcia" quotes Tom Constanten:
"When the Warlocks first started as a rock 'n' roll band they jumped in with both feet doing quintessential rock 'n' roll songs like 'Wooly Bully'."There are, however, no tapes surving of the Warlocks playing this.
Uno, dos, one, two, tres, quatro
Matty told Hatty about a thing she saw
Had two big horns and a wooly jaw
Wooly bully, wooly bully
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully
Hatty told Matty, let's don't take no chance
Let's not be L7, come and learn to dance
Wooly bully, wooly bully
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully
Matty told Hatty, that's the thing to do
Get you someone really to pull the wool with you
Wooly bully, wooly bully
Wooly bully, wooly bully, wooly bully
