Lyrics: Robben Ford
Music: Robben Ford
Played by Kingfish in 1984/5, including with Brent Mydland and Bill Kreutzmann. It wrongly appears in setlists under the title
"So Many Roads" but it is definitely not the Grateful Dead song with the same title. I wonder also
if it is the song that appears in Kingfish setlists for 26 October 1984 as "Feelin' Satisfied" (rather than the Boston song by that
title).
In small town, North CarolinaThe title "So Many Roads" is what appears in setlists, and this may be because it shares a couple of lines with the Otis Rush/John Mayall/Joe Bonamassa song:
Can't believes my aching heart
Just like music
Like sunshine on a rainy day
Taking mercy on a poor boy
Blowing all my blues away
Take me driving to the city
Take me down an old country road
Well I got time and money to burn, baby
And I feel like hanging round
And if I feel that way tomorrow
I might never leave this town
Just like music
Well, on an airplane, flying to New Orleans
Gonna meet up with some good friends of mine
So many roads now, so many more planes to ride
And if I found myself a new love
I'd be feeling satisfied
Yes I would
So many roads, so many trains to ride
So many roads, so many trains to ride
You know I got to find my baby before I be satisfied
I was standing at the station when I heard the whistle blow
I was standing at the station when I heard the whistle blow
You know I thought it was a streamline, it was a B&O
Well you know I miss my baby, and I miss her lying by my side
Well you know I miss my baby, and I miss her lying by my side
You know she gave me the kind of loving that always kept me satisfied
It was a mean old fireman, and a cruel old engineer
It was a mean old fireman, and a cruel old engineer
You know he got to my baby, left me standing here
