She Knows What I'm Thinkin'

Lyrics: Bob Weir, J.D. Souther, Aaron Raitiere
Music: Bob Weir, J.D. Souther, Aaron Raitiere

A new song, played in full for the first time when Bob Weir opened playing it solo acoustic at a Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros concert on 4 April 2022. As a new it goes through some minor variations and changes of verse order. (thanks to Ben Anderson, Gene Baran and Osty Gale for their help)

When it come from the deep within (note 1)
Shining darkness in her eyes
From somewhere down there dreaming
Coiled serpent has to rise

And the breathing all gets deeper
Seas begin to roll
All things take on the features
In the colours of her soul

And you let that spell set in
And you let it take control
You let that spell set in
And you let the darkness shine (note 2)

You can feel it you can taste it
Fluorescent in the moon
Beyond imagination
The rhythm sets the tune

Is it more than you can handle
More than it may seem
Something's lit the candle
You know you know what I mean

And you let that spell set in
And you let it play the tune
You let that spell set in
And you let it play the tune (note 3)

The stars are all on fire tonight
More than just alive
Touches everything all right
The goddess has arrived

The stars are all on fire tonight
A billion hungry suns
Darkness never shined so bright
We are the chosen ones
The chosen ones
Chosen ones
Chosen ones

Well it's more than you can hope for
More than can be seen
The way we move is sacred
Blue fire in a dream

It's a never-ending story
A story only told
By breathing in the glory
That she already holds

And you let that spell set in
Let it take control
You let that spell set in
And you let it take control

You let that spell set in
Let it take control
You let that spell set in
And you let the darkness shine

And listen to a [?]
As she rolls and bobs like an angry sea
Awaken sharpened to the bone
Heaven's will meant to be

The sky is all on fire tonight
A billion hungry suns
And this is just whatever's right
We are the chosen ones
The chosen ones
Chosen ones
Chosen ones
Notes
(1) on occasions, Bob Weir varies the order of the verses, starting with the "You can feel it you can taste it" set of verses.
(2) sometimes "And you let it all take hold".
(3) on at least one occasion (26 Feb 2023), Bobby sang this line as "All hail to the Queen" (thanks to Gene Baran for pointing this out
