Magic Door

Lyrics: Unknown
Music: Unknown

Played by the Healy-Treece Band in the early 1980s with Bill Kreutzmann on drums. It seems to be an original - I can't find any trace of any other band playing it. The title is what's listed on the setlist for 7 June 1981, but may just be a guess. Rather confusingly, what seems to be a rehearsal tape for 28 May 1981 has three versions of this song labelled I Think It's Gonna Rain Today 1, 2 and 3.

Now that you are here with me
I really hope you're feeling free
Love to see you laugh and smile
Makes me think you'll stay a while

Visions of what this love might bring
Dreams like this make me want to sing
To have your love, and give you more
Just go up there, and open up that magic door

Yesterdays are gone and past
Right now we want to make it last
A better life for you and me
Just open up that door and we will see

Visions of what this love might bring
Dreams like this make me want to sing
To have your love, and give you more
Just go up, and open up that magic door

Drifting through [the fields?]
Dreaming about what freedom feels
Thinking of both you and I
This time we didn't let paradise pass us by

Now the [?] has really [?]
How can we possibly ask for more
Paradise is all we ever need
They mean you and I are finally free

We're finally free
Yes, we're finally free
We're finally free
We're finally free
We're free
We're free
