Iyanu was recorded in 1986, after the Olatunje sessions which resulted in the recordings of "Invocation to the Orishas" (RCD 10102/RACS) and "The Beat" (RCD 0107/RACS). The gourds were grown in my garden, and arranged into a new instrument, a gourdophone. Airto played metal brushes against split bamboo.
