Lyrics: Lennon, McCartney
Music: Lennon, McCartney
I don't believe the Grateful Dead themselves ever played this,
though I occasionally see references to it as one of the Beatles' songs that the Dead covered.
It was recorded by Jerry Garcia on 'Run For The Roses', though the JGB never seem to have played it live.
It was also played by Phil Lesh with Too Loose To Truck in 1976, and with the Broken Angels in 1997.
Well she was just seventeen
You know what I mean
And the way she looked was way beyond compare
So how could I dance with another - oooh
When I saw her standing there
Well she looked at me
And I, I could see
That before too long I'd fall in love with her
She wouldn't dance with another - oooh
When I saw her standing there
Well my heart went zoom
When I crossed that room
And I held her hand in mine
Oh we danced through the night
And we held each other tight
And before too long I fell in love with her
Now I'll never dance with another - oooh
When I saw her standing there
