Easy To Slip

Lyrics: Kibbee, George
Music: Kibbee, George

Played by Bob Weir with most of his solo bands, though never with the Grateful Dead.

Chorus
It's so easy to slip
It's so easy to fall
And let your memory drift
And do nothing at all
All the love that you missed
All the people that you can't recall
Do they really exist
At all?

The whole world seems so cold today
And all the magic's gone away
And our time together melts away
Like the sad melody I play

[chorus]

Well I don't want to live forever
In this shadow of your leaving me
So I'll light another cigarette (note 1)
And try to remember to forget

It's so easy to slip
It's so easy to fall
[etc]
Notes
(1) the lyrics printed with the inner sleeve of the "Heaven Help The Fool" LP have "... light a mellow cigarette" but I think that's a mistake, and Bob sings "another cigarette". That's also what's sung on the version on Little Feat's album Sailin' Shoes, though Ben Anderson tells me he has heard versions by them where they sing "mellow cigarette"
