Turn On The Bright Lights

Lyrics: Harry A Carlson
Music: Harry A Carlson

Recorded by Jerry Garcia on "Compliments Of ..." There is no known recording of Jerry playing the song live, but Mark Kenny remembers hearing him play it live, possibly in NYC, soon after the album came out. (Thanks also to Mark for help with the lyrics.)

Turn on the bright lights
Turn on the bright lights
What a fool I have been
I believed
I believed that you loved me
But I was sure taken in

I lived in the dark
Like a fish in the sea
But I'm gonna turn on the bright lights
So that I can see

What always seems like a million years
But only wrapt up in you
Then the wrapping came off
And out came the tears
I'm all alone
And what I wanna do
Turn on the bright lights
Turn on the bright lights
From now on you'll see
Nobody else
Nobody else
No one else is gonna make a fool out of me

Turn on the bright lights
Turn on the bright lights
And I won't have to live in the dark any more
No more
