Do You Love Me

Lyrics: Ron McKernan (Pigpen)?
Music: Ron McKernan (Pigpen)?

A tape recently (2016) surfaced of a Grateful Dead practice session, dated as being on 9 March 1966. It was at an unknown location (possibly Owsleys house in Watts). It contains several takes of Who You You Love, plus one previously unknown song sung by Pigpen. I can't find any other references to the song, and I assume it's a Pigpen original. The title is just a guess - and it might be the song referred to as The Creeper in Crawdaddy magazine.

Here are the lyrics as best as i can make them out:

Well your good reputation is no consolation 'cause you get what you pay for, girl
Well I got some doubt in my mind, and it's really taught me, I'll be honest with, except my girl
Well I used to say, when my friend asked me, that your love was tried and true
Well now I'm a-wondering now in my sleep is that girl I see really you
Why don't you do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it
Do you love me, I want to know

Well your good reputation is no consolation 'cause you get what you pay for, girl
Well I got some doubt in my mind, and it's really taught me, I'll be honest with, except my girl
Well I used to say, when my friend asked me, that your love was tried and true
But now I'm a-wondering in my mind is that [room] I see really you
