Lyrics: [unknown?]
Music: [unknown?]
Sung by Dave Torbert with Kingfish. Not to be confused with the instrumental by David Grisman.
Corry Arnold tells me that he is in touch with Matthew Kelly, who also played with Kingfish. Kelly said
he had no idea where 'Rattlesnake' came from, or who recorded it. And he was pretty sure Dave Torbert had no idea either.
It was just a song someone taught him. It sometimes appears in setlists as "Nothing In This World", "Except You Babe" or "Millionaire"
Well I could have been a millionaire
I got myself to blame
Could have cashed my cheques
Too lazy to sign my name
There ain't nothing in the world
Can ever hurt me now
Except for you babe, little girl
I been stranded in the jungle for a week
With no food and no gun
Been attacked by a tiger babe
Didn't bother me none
There ain't nothing in the world
Can ever hurt me now
Except for you babe, little girl
I been bit by a rattlesnake
I been kicked by a mule
I've been left for dead now baby
But I'm nobody's fool
There ain't nothing in the world
Can ever hurt me now
Except for you babe
Well I could have been a millionaire
I got myself to blame
Could have cashed my cheque now
Too lazy to sign my name
There ain't nothing in the world
Can ever hurt me now
Except for you babe
